Anyone can find something to do in Rotterdam. From conservative
to anything goes. Definitely check out the CoffeeShop De Lachende
Paus on Nieuwe Binneweg. It was absolutely amazing. You walk
in and definitely feel like your in a church or something.
Great place enjoy dutch delicasees.
Loved Club Vibes, hated De Oude Haven, feared the bridge and
got drunk on a boat.
I hope to go back for a quickie soon.

Hi,
We have just visited Rotterdam for the 8th time, and each time
we visit the city, it gets bigger and bigger. If you want to
experience Holland to the fullest then you need at least 3 whole
days for this city alone. The community, food, bars are all
great with excellent shopping opportunities. While there we
visited "Cafe Zizo" a small but friendly gay bar/cafe
(Schiedamse Vest 146) well worth a visit from the UK gay community.
Also make sure you visit the restaurant at the "Vroom &
Dreesman" department store, the rooftop terrace is amazing
as is the food available. While talking about food make sure
you try the "Chip Special" with mayo, curry sauce
and fresh onion, you will be converted!! and if you like something
spicy buy a jar of Sambal. Transportation cannot be faulted
either, excellent tram system, both clean trains and trams that
are always on time!! how do they do that?...... make sure you
take comfortable shoes as there is so much to see you will be
walking for miles. One problem, with the Euro currency everything
has doubled in price, so, take loads of cash with you!! There
is so much more to this city, but, I don't want to seem like
I am going on and on.

Hello,
I was in Rotterdam last april for a brief visit. I'm a business
student from Germany and was in Rotterdam because I have been
to Amsterdam a couple of times before, but was a little bit
fat up with the city. Touristic! Well, to summarize the rest
of this story: Rotterdam was great!!
I slept at the youth hostel Stay OK, which was very shitty.
It had an eastern-Europe kind of feeling.
So I went off into the city right away. First I walked the Nieuwe
Binneweg. It's a very large street with a lot of record stores.
I went to Demonfuzz, where I found some rare hiphop albums I
was looking for. My visit to Rotterdam started perfectly. I
walked on, visiting some shops, and sat down at a terrace of
a café called Rotown and drank a beer. They serve Heineken
everywhere, which is a pity. I don't really like Heineken, so
when I ordered another one I tried one of the special beers
like Westmalle trippel, a Belgian special! Great bear. A bit
tipsy already I walked into the city center. The main shopping
area is around the Lijnbaan and the Coolsingel and it is terrible.
Really a typical Western world consuming area. But streets like
the Van Oldebarneveltstraat where nice. Little shops with exclusive
clothing, good food, drinks and atmosphere.
Well, at night I went eating at Rotown. It was a nice dish for
9 euro, but is was somewhat to salty. But for the price it was
ok. Later that night on the terrace I met some guys who went
playing soccer in a nearby park. They invited me and I went
along. It was great and afterwards we smoked a joint that kicked
my ass. We went to a café called Parket and I got really
drunk and stoned. Ai ai ai.
These guys where great! I don't remember how I got back to the
hotel.
The next day I had breakfast at Westerpaviljoen, around the
corner of the hostel. Nice place. At twelve o'clock I had to
catch the train back to Germany.
I'm sure I'll be back, Rotterdam!!!
